MDSX is looking for a Creative Director to be a visionary for immersive themed entertainment and exhibit design projects from ideation to installation with attention to creative leadership brainstorming of ideas, visualizing concepts, client presentations, and collaboration with a team. Internal collaboration includes reporting to the Executive Creative Director, working in conjunction with the Creative and Technical Producers, and directing a team of designers. External collaboration includes working with client teams and external partners such as architects, engineers, and fabricators.
Job Description
- Primary responsibilities include overall direction of creative intent during early design phases such as programming and concept design, including but not limited to:

- Pursuing and protecting a singular vision on behalf of the client and audience.
- Research of reference material, case studies, and examples to support ideas.
- Development of guest experience through mood boards and narratives.
- Continued creative direction in later design phases through project completion.
- Accountable for the oversight of design deliverables, including but not limited to:
- Interpretive writing, sketches, illustrations, digital media, and interface design.
- Presentation of design deliverables to clients for feedback.
- Review and feedback of progress made by our team of creative designers.
- Provide consultation on the following in an effort to uphold the quality of creative intent:
- Building of design teams by evaluating needs and risks, establishing internal and external paths of communication, and providing feedback to the administrative and accounting teams.
- Technical design, fabrication, and installation process including collaboration with scenic, A/V, lighting, graphics, media, and interactive disciplines.
Qualifications
- Leadership, creative thinking, problem solving and ability to verbally and visually convey ideas to clients, design teams, and vendors.
- Collaborative team player that is able to contribute to the creative studio culture with strong imaginative, inspirational, and out of the box thinking.
- Self motivated with 7+ years of experience in themed entertainment, theatrical design, exhibit design, experiential design, interactive design/development and/or live entertainment with a willingness to learn from others through professional and personal development.
- Familiarity with design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite, 3D modeling, and/or drafting programs.
- Compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and MDSX policies and procedures.
Features of Independent Contractor Agreement

- Remote position with flexibility in working hours, provided scheduled meetings can be accommodated
- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) required for discussion of confidential project-related information
- Master Agreement required for long term collaboration (renews annually while an active contractor for MDSX) with associated Purchase Orders issued for project-specific assignments including detailed scopes of work

- Invoices paid weekly, typically within 7 days, via Gusto
- All necessary equipment must be self-provided, i.e. computer with sufficient specifications to work effectively, cell phone, adequate Internet access to collaborate as needed, software required to fulfill role

Salary
$60 – $100 per hour
